Combining the best in British folk music with roots, rock and reggae rhythms, Tumbling Tom has for many years been the leading ceilidh band in the area. The band developed as part of the new wave of folk dance bands that use predominantly English music with it’s robust rhythms to get people onto the dance floor. Led by a melodeon, the band include electric guitars, drums, bass, and brass to produce a lively sound.
Video clips: You can see us playing at the 2022 Christmas ceilidh here and here. For Furness Tradition in 2017 playing a schottische written by the band here, and here at the 2017 Kendal Christmas Ceilidh. You can also see us in our usual line up here
News in brief: 2023 was a quiet year for the band, with personnal commitments limiting the bands playing. The highlight once again was bringing out the Big Band for the annual Christmas ceilidh for Crook Morris in December. See a short compilation of our playing in 2022 here.
The sad news is that Fiona and Tony have 'retired' from the band, but we welcome Mark into the band playing bass guitar.
Gigs for 2024 include playing for the FurnessTradition ceilidh on July 13, K Fellfarers 90th birthday ceilidh on November 23, and the annual Christmas ceilidh on Dec 7.
